About Our Project |
This website is the project for our 1960’s history class as part of the Vietnam War unit. During this time, the class was going over the events that took place during that turbulent period. The purpose of this project was to gain an understanding of the war’s impact on people from first-hand perspectives. We didn’t have much class time to do this project, so it was mostly worked on during the weekends and after school. Everyone took on different tasks - bringing in the equipment, transcribing the interviews, gathering photos, building this website site, taking notes, etc.
We started this project over five months ago. In November, we had a meet and greet with the veterans to get to know them. From there, we built the interview questions using the knowledge we got from each meeting. Each set of questions you will see in the interviews were geared specifically toward that individual veteran. Then we conducted the actual interviews, all of which can be viewed/heard on this website.
We hope this project allows you to gain a better understanding of the Vietnam War and how it impacted the lives of real people, not just the key figures you read about in history books. Thank you again to our veterans - Tom Stryer, Jay Kalner and Len Ignatowski.
